Step 1- Find your Inspiration

This is the fun part. Head over to Pinterest, google or instagram and find some examples of the types of photos want. Create a mood board to share with me so I can help you create your dream session.

Step 2- Curate your Wardrobe

I will send you a style guide with tips and tricks for wardrobe and styling. You want a look that is cohesive and coordinated but it doesn't have to match. Make sure that everyone has tried on their outfits so there aren't any last minute surprises.

Step 3- Pack your Day of Bag

Come prepared! Make sure that you have an outfit change for any kids who are prone to fall in mud, extra diapers for baby and a hairbrush for last minute touch ups.  Bring snacks and drinks for sugar lows and tired kids (or parents!). Just make sure they are "mess free".

Wardrobe Tips for Family Photos

  • Keep it simple. Solid colours or small prints photograph best.

  • Prioritize easy fabrics that don't wrinkle.

  • During our session you may want to sit, stand, crouch down or hug someone. Make sure your clothing can move with you.

  • For girls with long hair, consider pinning hair back or using a hairband or bow. You don't want to have to constantly brush your hair out of your face.

  • Make sure that kids' clothing is comfortable and weather appropriate. If it's hot consider lighter fabrics and colours. If it's cold bring layers.

  • Wear something you feel good in!

Do's and Don't
of Family Photography

Do accessorize - consider bringing a colourful scarf or sweater to add to pop of colour to a selection of photos.

Do bring extra clothes for little ones.

Do bring a blanket or old clothing to sit on if the ground is wet or muddy.

Don't wear busy or loud patterns - these can take away from the subject- you and your family!

Don't wear clothing that is unflattering from certain angles - you don't want to feel constrained while interacting with your family.
