Bringing your baby home is one of the most magical moments of your life—but let’s be honest, it’s also exhausting. Between sleepless nights, endless feeding sessions, and figuring out what day it is, the idea of booking a newborn photo session might feel overwhelming.

That’s why I’ve designed newborn photography experiences for families in Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Katy, Rosenberg and Sienna that are not only beautiful and timeless—but completely stress-free.

Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, here’s exactly what to expect when you book your newborn photo session with me.

When to Book Your Newborn Session

The best time to book is before your baby arrives, ideally in your second or early third trimester. This secures your spot on my calendar and gives us time to plan your session style.

Once baby is born, I ask you to send me a quick message so we can pick the actual date. Most sessions happen between 5–14 days old, when babies are still extra sleepy and snuggly—but I also work with older newborns and know how to adapt gently and creatively. In fact, about half of the photos in my newborn gallery are of babies who are older than two weeks, with some as old as three months!

Where Your Session Happens

Your session can take place in your home (for cozy, lifestyle portraits) or in my natural light studio in Sugar Land—perfect for minimalist, timeless images with a clean, classic aesthetic. I offer at home on-location sessions across Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Katy, Rosenberg and Sienna, depending on your comfort and needs.

Don’t stress about your space being “photo ready”—I promise, I know how to find the perfect light and angles even in the most lived-in rooms.

What to Bring (Or Not!)

Honestly? You don’t need to bring much.

I provide a curated selection of simple wraps, neutral-toned blankets, and minimal props to keep the focus on your beautiful baby. If you have a sentimental item (like a handmade quilt or heirloom outfit), let’s include it!

For parents, soft, neutral clothing works best and creates that dreamy, timeless look you see in my portfolio. I’ll send you a style guide ahead of time so you feel totally prepared.

What If Baby Won’t Sleep?

Babies do what babies do—and that’s okay! Crying, cluster feeding, diaper changes? All part of the process.

I always allow for extra time around our session so we’re never rushed. My sessions are never timed. We take our time, every time.

Whether your little one snoozes the whole time or wants to be held the entire session, I’ll capture beautiful, real moments either way. Some of my favorite shots are wide-awake gazes and snuggles in mama’s arms.
