My Style and Process

Natural Light Photography
I am always looking for the perfect light. I lean towards natural light photography but also use studio equipment when needed.
I love guiding you through your session - offering posing tips, adjusting angles, and thinking up fun prompts for your kiddos (some of them involve fart sounds)!
I want our session to be relaxed, comfortable and easy.
What to Expect
Reach out! I'll organize a phone or video call. I love connecting with you to get an idea of what you are looking for and to make sure I am a perfect fit.
Then we set up a date. I know life is busy and strive to work around your schedule.
I'm available before your session to discuss locations, wardrobe, styling etc. Send me a Pinterest mood board and we can brainstorm the perfect location!

The Smile Guarantee
I want to make sure that you are 100% happy with your photos.
That's why I offer a Smile Guarantee. Sometimes it feels like the weather, nap time, fussy babies or spilled juice is conspiring against us moms. If you aren't happy with your photos I will reshoot, reschedule or refund.
Sessions should be fun. Don't stress.
Even with a cranky toddler I can usually get some great photos. And if not? There is always tomorrow.
Sit back, relax, and let me take care of you.

Toddler Sessions
Ah, toddler sessions. Those tiny, mercurial dictators we love.
With toddlers, you must always remember: you are not the boss. (You must also bring snacks).
Photographing a toddler is like swimming out of a riptide - you have to work with it, not against it.
That's why my toddler sessions will look a lot like play sessions. We'll choose a location that has lots of interesting things to look at, smell, touch and feel, because that's how your little person explores the world. We'll stop and smell flowers, throw leaves and have tickle fights.
If your toddler is slow to warm up, no worries! I have yet to meet a toddler that I didn't get amazing photos of. Try me.
Here's a sample photo session to see how the flow might go with a shy gal.

School Aged Kids - my tips and tricks (shhh)
Ah, school aged kiddos: they can wipe their own butt AND they still want to spend time with you. This is the golden age.
At this age, temperment is key. Some kids love to ham it up; others feel awkward and shy around strangers. That's ok!
A lot of my prompts for older kids involve getting you in some sort of position (we still want pretty, right?), and then asking them questions. You know what kids love to do? Talk about their interests - minecraft, memes, funny stories, the latest movie- whatever they want!
I might ask them to explain the latest Gen Z slang (kids LOVE correcting adults), point to the parent that lets them have extra screen time, or tell me which family member farts the most (I warned you about the potty humor, right?).

Tips for Teens
Are you also involved in the wonderful world of hormones? Welcome, friend.
Teens get a bad rap, but they are some of my favs to photograph. That lovely, awkward, budding phase where they are so intensely coming into and discovering themselves.
They are just spreading their wings and living somewhere between the warm home nest and the great wide world. I want to capture these fleeting moments for you and your family.
Or at least a genuine smile.

Top Tips for Tempermental Teens
1. Let Them Be Themselves
The fastest way to shut a teen down? Telling them to smile more or pose a certain way. I keep things light, relaxed, and judgment-free so teens can express themselves in a way that feels natural—whether that’s cool and quiet or playful and goofy. When they feel seen and respected, that confidence shines in every photo.
2. Give Them a Voice in the Session
If your teen has a favorite outfit, location, or even a song they love—bring it in! Giving them a say in something small (like choosing a pose or snapping a solo portrait with their pet) helps them feel valued and included. I’ll often ask for their input during the session to keep the vibe collaborative, not forced.
3. Keep It Quick and Focused
Let’s be honest—most teens aren’t looking for an all-day shoot. I plan family sessions to flow efficiently, with just enough time for beautiful moments (and some fun in between), without dragging it out. We keep the pace moving, the energy up, and the awkwardness down.
4. Plan Outfits That Reflect Their Style
You want photos that feel timeless—but your teen also wants to feel like themselves. I help families find the sweet spot: outfits that coordinate beautifully while letting each person’s style come through. When a teen feels good in what they’re wearing, it shows.
5. Create Connection, Not Just Poses
Teens often relax the most during the in-between moments—laughing with a sibling, hugging mom, or joking with dad. These moments aren’t posed, they’re real. That’s where I focus. I’ll guide gently, but I’m always watching for those natural connections that make family photos truly meaningful.
